About Construction

Comments come From David Zuppan, Inventor and patent holder of the Hydroloc Basements system.

Research on the Hydroloc Basement system include the who's who of corporations and universities; ExxonMobil, Philips Chevron, British Petroleum, Owens Corning, Certainteed, Akron Polymer Institute, Youngstown State University, and there is more.

Below are some beginning to end photo's from our last installation. I feel these speak volumes to my patented system, and should answer a few of the questions you have right now.

This is a 34ft wall, with two 32" x 16" windows, and two standard 8” beam pockets. The first basement to offer punched openings that are roughly 3" triangular in shape, and large enough to house the most complex wiring and plumbing designs that service the entire home. The galvanized steel framework is designed to industry standard 16” on center framework, ample spacing for recessed breaker box installation, as well as full containment of drainpipe. The Hydroloc System is the first basement that looks as though it is first floor living.

Dow’s Rigid Insulation Board can give versatility to insulation values. The system can arrive to the job site with custom ordered insulation values. The galvanized steel studs are 6" deep, and weigh 2lbs per foot. This design allows the builder or homeowner to add additional insulation to R-40 values, or leave empty space as the insulator. This design is the best in the industry, with energy ratings that are 25% better than any other masonry (pre-cast or poured), or wood foundation used today.

Walls come in lengths up to 50ft. Installation is very fast, dead on square, and can be done in all weather conditions. In fact, this installation took 3hrs, 20min. You can see the patented footer top cover. The walls are placed on top, with the outer edge secured to the drain tile, making this area completely impervious to water intrusion. New designs have this same flat footer top look but, produced as a seamless polymer extrusion, will have two vertical tabs rising on the inside 2 ˝” high, and 2 ˝” apart (design drawing available) that are permanent water and moisture stops under the basement floor. In the same seamless extrusion, my patented perimeter footer drain aptly named the HydroTrac, will carry away nearly three times the amount of water than standard schedule 40 piping.

Also visible in this picture are our very strong beam pockets. Our normal wall design loads can carry over 4,000lbs per lin/ft.

Mig Welded or bolted at the inside corners, gives added strength to an already very, very strong foundation. When comparing our original design for this foundation, the Hydroloc System walls are 1,800X stronger than an 8” perfectly cured, concrete wall, and 10,000X less likely to permeate water. These facts are scientifically supported, and indisputable.

Shown in the third picture, the Footer Top is clearly seen at the base of the wall, and is sealed forever to the drain tile. The lighter color is a Fusion Weld. This style of polymer welding fuses the outer poly sheet to the footer top. This same weld is used for inside and outside corners, and is done through the 3/8” thickness of the outer sheet, unifying the outer skin and footer cover as one. The polymer weld has the exact chemistry as the outer wall and footer cover, fusing them together, and having the same strength and permeation properties as the heavy gage sheet.  You are looking at the first seamless basement in the world.

Installed in full length walls that are manufactured to match blueprint drawings, makes the Hydroloc System quick and easy to install.

Walls can be used for porches, garages, slab homes, as well as tornado and hurricane shelters.

The Hydroloc System has an industry leading hydration value of .000018. This value enabled our design team to cut costs to the builder by eliminating the need for heavy tonnage of gravel backfill. The installation follows code standards of 18 to 20 inches of cleansing gravel on top of the drain tile, and the balance simple dirt/clay mix. This cuts the cost of an average installation by at least $1,500, and brings the linear footage price of the Hydroloc System down considerably.

The First basement in the world that permanently seals to all plastic or metal thru-wall utility services.

Straight and square makes the Hydroloc System a perfect candidate for pre-fab homes of any design. Our first home installed now 7 years ago was an all pre-fab from the floor joists, to the roof joists. Home size was 1,600sq/ft, and was under tar-paper the afternoon of the fourth day.
